2nd Grade Readers Theater (Children)
Wednesday, February 08, 2012
- 4:15 - 5:15
Location:
Greenville Area Public Library
Register by Feb. 2, 2012 Second Graders can participate in an activity in which students, while reading directly from a script, are able to tell an entertaining story.
Readers Theater is an activity in which students, while reading directly from scripts, are able to tell a story in a most entertaining form, without props, costumes, or sets. This is a reading activity, and students are not asked to memorize their lines. They are, however, encouraged to "ham it up" and use intonation and gestures appropriate to their characters and their characters words.
We will be concentrating on a few popular fairy tales as well as some popular library books. The students really enjoy this after-school activity while it promotes literacy and greatly improves reading fluency.
