August Announcements

Do you like to win prizes? It's not too late to participate in our "Color Our World" Beanstack challenge through August 23. We'll have prizes from Carried Away Outfitters, Boundless Books, Citgo Gas, and The Kilted Kiln. You get a ticket just for signing up and another for each badge. If you have earned tickets, don't forget to put them in for the various drawings.

We had an amazing response for our call for artists for our Tiny Art Show! Over 100 area artists signed up to decorate 5"x5" canvas panels which will be on display at the library from August 5 to August 30. We hope you'll be able to stop by and check them out. If you stop in from August 5 to August 12, you can vote on winners for each age category. You're also invited to attend our Tiny Art Show Reception on August 13 between 4:30 and 6:00pm where we'll announce the winners. The talent in our community is truly astounding.

For those of you with children in your lives, join us for a free family drive-in movie night on August 7 at 7:00 pm at the Reynolds Drive-in Theater! Despicable Me (Rated PG) will be shown. PHN Charitable Foundation will collect new or gently used books to support its Little Free Library program. Donors will receive a $1 off concession coupon (limit one per person, while supplies last). There will be a craft for children before the movie begins. Hosted by the PHN Charitable Foundation in conjunction with the Greenville Area Public Library, this event is open to all families in the community so invite your friends and neighbors.

We are back to our normal Saturday hours. The library is open 9am-8pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and 9am-4:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The library will be closed on Saturday, August 30 for the Labor Day weekend.

The Friends of the Library are still collecting books for their book sale at the First United Methodist Church on Clinton Street. Donations may be dropped off Mondays from 1-3pm, Wednesdays from 6-8pm, and Fridays from 10am-Noon. No donations will be accepted here at the library. They are only taking donations through September 5, so now's the time to get those items in!

I hope to see you soon!
