January Announcements

Happy New Year! I hope everyone's year has started well.

With the new year comes a new annual reading challenge. This year we're celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States with our own America 250 Bingo Challenge. We encourage you to participate throughout the year as you look back at some of the pivotal times of our country. Any ages can participate, just sign up on Beanstack and add the challenge. You can track your progress on a computer or download the Beanstack app.

For the winter, we're starting up our Jigsaw Puzzle Exchange again: Bring a puzzle - Take a puzzle. We have a selection of puzzles on the display table in the Fiction room that you can pick from to get the exchange started.

As we move into a new year, some of the old things are falling away. Attendance at our weekly movie matinees has decreased considerably and we've decided to let that program end. It's hard for me to believe we started weekly movies back in June of 2017! We will still be adding movies in our collection that you can borrow and if there is a popular movie coming out with a book tie-in, we may do special Page to Screen viewings.

Keeping with the "Out with the old and in with the new" adage, we are starting a new quilting program to go along with our history focus for the year. We are also debuting a monthly Thursday Talks program that invites community members to come learn about various issues in an informal setting. You can read more about these programs below.

The library will be closed January 17 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Our Annual Meeting will be on January 20 at 6pm. Our first board meeting of the year will follow.

I hope to see you soon!
