June Announcements
Be a part of our exciting summer by signing up for our 2026 Adult Summer Reading Challenge. This year's theme, Unearth A Story, focuses on paleontology, archaeology, and, of course, dinosaurs. Read and participate in activities in the next few months to earn tickets to enter prize drawings. Prizes for the adults this year include the ever-popular $50 gas card, a gift certificate to Boundless Books, and two tickets to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. They have a Dinosaur theme for you to explore until September 7, though the tickets can be redeemed for up to a year.
You can also be part of Summer Reading by purchasing an Unearth A Story t-shirt. You can order your shirt online. Orders need to be in by June 9. We expect we'll have them available for pick up by the end of the month. The shirts are $10. You can also order your shirt at the library.
While we're excited about our summer theme, we're not forgetting our America 250 year-long theme. This month we go back to a time before we were a country with the movie The New World, which we will screening on June 4. We also have our first session of the Declaration Book Club on June 18. This title is a bit of a misnomer as we won't be reading a book, but a selection of readings for each meeting.
Our many other programs continue. Read below for more information and to sign up. I do want to point out one new program. It's an opportunity for book lovers to get together, get a little exercise, and talk about books. Scroll down to see more about our Book Stroll!
The library will be participating in PA/OH Gives, a week of giving through the Community Foundation of Western PA & Eastern OH. Giving Week is June 20-26.
A percentage of each dollar you give during this week will be matched, making your contributions to the library go even further. Keep an eye out for more information in the coming weeks.
The Friends of Greenville Area Public Library would like you to know that they are opening to donations for their book sale on June 15. They will be taking donations of gently-used materials at the First United Methodist Church on Clinton Street on Mondays from 1-3, Wednesdays from 6-8, and Fridays from 10 to 12. Please check out their Facebook page for questions.
The library's summer hours are now in effect.
Tuesday-Thursday 9:00am to 8:00pm
Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm
Saturday 9:00am to 1:30pm
I hope to see you soon!
