July Announcements

I want to thank everyone who participated in the PA/OH Gives Giving Week last week either by donating or sharing our information. We had a goal of $10,000 and you surpassed it! I don't have the final numbers yet, but that what we do here is important enough to you that you put your hard-earned dollars toward supporting us is truly humbling.

Thank you so much!

It's not too late to take part in our 2026 Adult Summer Reading Challenge. This year's theme, Unearth A Story, focuses on paleontology, archaeology, and, of course, dinosaurs. Read and participate in activities to earn tickets to enter prize drawings. Prizes for the adults this year include the ever-popular $50 gas card, a gift certificate to Boundless Books, and two tickets to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. You earn a ticket just by signing up!

Obviously this month has some big things happening with the semiquincentennial in just a few days. We'll be closed on July 4th itself, but you can still explore American history with us. Celebrate our country's founding on July 2 with a screening of of the Broadway musical Hamilton. See how dedicated individuals bring history out of the books and into today when local re-enactor Jerry Stumpff speaks with us on July 15. The second session of the Declaration Book Club meets on July 23. Keep scrolling for more information on these programs and more.

A Hard-To-Recycle Event will be held at the library on July 14 from 9am to 1pm. You can find more information about this event, including what they will and won't accept at with their flyer here or at the Mercer County Recycling & Solid Waste Department website. Any questions should be directed to them as we are just serving as a drop-off location for the day.

The Board of the Greenville Area Public Library Association will meet on July 21 at 6pm.

The Friends of Greenville Area Public Library remind you that they will be taking donations of gently-used materials at the First United Methodist Church on Clinton Street on Mondays from 1-3, Wednesdays from 6-8, and Fridays from 10 to 12 (except July 3 & September 11). Please check out their Facebook page for questions.

The library's summer hours are in effect through August 1.

Tuesday-Thursday 9:00am to 8:00pm

Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm

Saturday 9:00am to 1:30pm

I hope to see you soon!
