August Announcements

The children's summer reading program is over, but the adults still have some time to finish their challenges and earn more drawing entries! In fact, you can still sign up to participate. You get one ticket just for signing up!

You can find the 2026 Adult Summer Reading Challenge here. We've added one prize, a year Partner Membership for two adults to the Cleveland Museum of Art. You can see all the benefits here. The other prizes are the ever-popular $50 gas card, a gift certificate to Boundless Books, and two tickets to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. You can change your tickets if you've already put them in another drawing by clicking on that drawing and hitting the "Add/Remove Tickets" button. All tickets need to be entered into the drawing by August 15 at 11:59 pm.

We also continue our history theme this month with a special showing of Iron Jawed Angels, presented by the League of Women Voters of Mercer County on August 6. History takes a very personal turn at the end of the month as we learn about oral history from Anita Bowser of the Butler Area Public Library. So many people in our community have experiences to share that will be lost when they're no longer with us. Recording their memories through oral history interviews preserves their knowledge for the future.

The Friends of Greenville Area Public Library remind you that they will be taking donations of gently-used materials at the First United Methodist Church on Clinton Street on Mondays from 1-3, Wednesdays from 6-8, and Fridays from 10 to 12 (except  September 11). Please check out their Facebook page for questions.

The library returns to our regular hours on August 4.

Tuesday-Thursday 9:00am to 8:00pm

Friday & Saturday 9:00am to 4:30pm

I hope to see you soon!
