August's quilt block is the Album block, also called Chimney Sweep. This block uses strips of fabric sewn horizontally and then trimmed to get the diagonal tilt. Perfect for scraps as shown, or use just two colors.

July's quilt block is the Double Friendship Star. The Friendship Star quilt block is a nine-patch. When someone moved away, their friends would each make a block and sign the center before assembling the quilt. We'll be doing a slight variation, making it a double star.
